TYPES OF BULLYING
There are two types of bullying.
Direct Bullying also known as Overt Bullying
- Characterized by open physical or verbal attacks
- Easier to recognize
- Boys are more likely to display this behavior
- Example: the victim and others know the identity of the bully.
Indirect Bullying also known as Covert Bullying
- Includes covert, harmful behaviors.
- Can be more difficult to recognize.
- Girls are more likely to display this behavior
- Example: spreading rumors, using pitch voice.
Teachers should be able to distinguish both types of Bullying. Whether the Bullying comes from girls or boys, by having this knowledge a teacher will be more likely to recognize the early signs of Bullying before it escalates.
